The crazy conspiracists provide cover for the real conspiracies.
Exactly. We just have to be careful not to dismiss the genuine ones and that means we have to treat almost all of them as real, at least initially.

"We have to treat all of them as real?" What do you mean "we". I prefer skeptical inquiry. I think that is what separates an open mind from simple gullibility.

I try to be clear in my meanings when I post here, Rick. I said, "and that means we have to treat almost all of them as real, at least initially." I would appreciate it if you wouldn't misquote what I say.

By way of clarification, which I didn't honestly think was necessary, ALMOST does not mean ALL. It means all but the most outrageous CTs. And "at least initially" means as we examine some of them and it becomes obvious they ARE CTs, then we can dismiss them, but only AFTER examination.

Oops my mistake. I find less difference between almost all and all than you obviously do.

I still prefer skepticism, which does involve examination and questioning. The default state is different, that's all. I prefer to investigate before believing, while you seem to prefer to investigate before dismissing. For the vast majority of the CTs, I suspect my approach is more efficient.

I'm probably more skeptical than you, actually. The reason I suggest giving at least SOME initial credence to almost every CT that comes down the pike is that FAR too many turn out to be true. The days of trusting your government, our society or simple human nature are long gone, IMO. When you realize things which WERE CT at the time, such as Watergate for example, have turned out to be true you tend to be a little less dismissive when you hear these things. Sure, you can still toss these things out as garbage, but we need to take a little time to make sure they ARE garbage, more than we used to at, any rate.

And I DO see a lot more difference in all and almost all than some. For one thing, I feel words are extremely important and since we have about a MILLION of them in the English language it's easy to use the right ones. Also, I just try to avoid misunderstandings like the one we had here.

I will remain sceptical of that assertion.

I hope that you do not have me confused with someone who trusts government on any level.

Neverless, the overreacting to adverbs seems ill advised. Adjectives, adverbs and modifying clauses may soften or shade meaning, yet rarely change it.

Fine, whatever you say. If you want to misquote someone, respond to somebody else from now on. Start by not responding to this post.

Heh.

Character witness for Ken Lay struck down by God as he enters Church for Ken Lay funeral.
No mention of "Open Casket" in the story, I guess it doesnt matter if Kenny boy is actually interred.

Former Houston mayor collapses at Lay memorial

02:32 PM CDT on Wednesday, July 12, 2006
From 11 News Staff Reports

Jason Whitely's 11 News report, Carolyn Campbell's 11 News report

Former Houston Mayor Bob Lanier was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at the funeral of Enron founder Ken Lay Wednesday morning.

<snip>
More recently, Lanier had testified as a character witness at Lay’s fraud and conspiracy trial.
Somebody should have the foresight to hack off an appendage or something for testing.

Interesting twist.

So, bush and his stepford wife were there. Even though junior acted as if Lay was only an acquaintance, not a friend. Why would a president show up at the funeral of a convicted criminal?
When Jack Abramoff "dies" will junior go to the festivities?

The agents were at the ceremony awaiting former President Bush and his wife, Barbara, and rushed to Lanier's side along with several doctors.
Could the fainting have been a staged diversion from the trap door in the casket? I dont know. I am just saying.....

Edit to Add:
The mayor was a co-conspirator:
Quote:
Houston Chronicle

Lanier had testified as a character witness at Lay's fraud and conspiracy trial, which ended May 25 with the Enron founder's conviction. He had praised Lay as being "straight as a string with me" and said he never recalled seeing Lay do anything selfish.

"I thought Ken was visionary for Enron, visionary for the city," he said on the stand.

Lanier and Lay were two of Houston's biggest powerbrokers in the 1990s. While mayor, Lanier pushed hard for legislation that allowed the construction of three new sports stadium, including the Houston Astros stadium, which was named Enron Field until the company's collapse in 2001.
.....So, why wouldn't he aid and abet his escape too?

As for dubya I wonder if he had any "un-declared guests" on Air Force One for his departure from the country, immediately after the staged funeral. Hes en route to Germany. Very clever.
