Iraqi PM: Abu Musab al-Zarqawi killed

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060608/...kxBHNlYwN0bQ--

Quote:
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the al-Qaida-linked militant who led a bloody campaign of suicide bombings, kidnappings and hostage beheadings in
Iraq, has been killed in a U.S. air raid north of Baghdad, Iraq's prime minister said Thursday.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said al-Zarqawi was killed Wednesday evening along with seven aides.

The Jordanian-born militant, who was believed to have personally beheaded at least two American hostages, became Iraq's most wanted militant, as notorious as
Osama bin Laden, to whom he swore allegiance in 2004. The United States had put a $25 million bounty on al-Zarqawi, the same as bin Laden

Meanwhile no Inner Party member wavers for an instant in his mystical belief that the war is real, and that it is bound to end victoriously, with Oceania the undisputed master of the entire world."

Though I am pleased that the murderer is no longer among the living, I feel the Isalmist operate as a hydra and removing heads does not eliminate the problem. Now if the Iraqis found and killed him - that may signal a change within the body, and that is the only way to kill a hydra.

The Hydra had the body of a serpent and many heads (the number of heads deviates from five up to one hundred there are many versions but generally nine is accepted as standard), of which one could never be harmed by any weapon, and if any of the other heads were severed another would grow in its place (in some versions two would grow).

Not a conspiracy theory, but the timing of this so soon after the scandals about murdered civilians are heating up makes me a tad suspicious.

And it probably makes more than a few people so happy they will forget we didn't go there to liberate these people in the FIRST place.

It's funny that people are so wrapped up in getting the stars of this play they lose sight of the fact that the western world routinely changes ITS leaders every few years. It's like they think Al Quaeda is going to come apart at the seams now.
I'm more worried about the soft-headed bastard driving the car loaded with explosives than I am of Osama.

Ya, they knew where he was, at all times, gave him money, told him to kill Americans and Iraqi's and that he would die to help cover any problems America might have in the PR war's if the need arose.

::rolleyes::

This is great news, who ever takes "over" is going to have to fight not only us killing him, but whoever ELSE wants to take over. And we'll get them too.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

Lets see. Remember all the predictions about how the insurgency would collapse once:

Saddam was captured - 465 American soldiers had died

"Sovereignty" was returned to the Iraqis - 886 American soldiers had died

Elections to form a government were held - 1436 American soldiers had died

and now the death of Zarkawi - 2480 American soldiers have died, officially 18,254 have been wounded. Estimated wounded 20,000 - 48,100.

Of course Zarkawi's death is good news but whether it will change anything at all remains to be seen.

This is a good time to declare victory and really support our troops by bringing them home. The Iraqis have a government, an army and the boogey-man Zarkawi is dead. Time to bring the troops home.

Well they are down 7 + Zarqawi...

I was merely making fun of your inane comment about being suspicious about the timing.

It's called satire.

Death is the only immortal who treats us all alike, whose pity and whose peace and whose refuge are for all-----the soiled and the pure, the rich and the poor, the loved and the unloved. M.T.

I am not sory to see the man go. Hopefully it will accelerate our disengagement from Iraq.

It won't. But I'm still gonna celebrate.

Gee! Maybe we should have not launched the bomb. After all, it's so close after a scandal. It must be a setup. We should have waited for a less suspicious time to kill him.

Your contribution to that bullshit is duly noted.

I want to believe that we really got him, but the ones claiming the responsibility for the act, as well as the ones who have the evidence that its really Zarqawi, is none other than the US military. Past experience shows that this institution has been less than truthful in the past, so unfortunately it makes it more difficult to believe.

This supposed person was more of a myth than anything else. I do find this revival in propaganda most intriguing though.
