Security officials said the incident began when members of a new Hamas militia stopped a car carrying members of the Preventive Security Service, a branch loyal to moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

i thought that the palestinians would slowly descend into civil war before arafat died - simply because of the unchecked rise of armed terrorist group, hamas... now, it seems like a civil war is getting into full swing.
