Rush Limbaugh arrested on prescription drug charges

Quote:
Associated Press

Friday, April 28, 2006

WEST PALM BEACH — Rush Limbaugh was arrested Friday on prescription drug charges, law enforcement officials said.

Limbaugh turned himself in to authorities on a warrant issued by the State Attorney's Office, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the State Attorney's Office.

The conservative radio commentator came into the jail at about 4 p.m. with his attorney Roy Black and bonded out an hour later on a $3,000 bail, Barbera said.

The warrant was for fraud to conceal information to obtain prescription, Barbera said.

How about the rest of the story? The charge will be dropped and it was a compromise to a 4 year long case.
The libs cannot compete with Rush on the radio so they had a Dem prosecutor try to gret him on phomy charges

Prosecutors seized Limbaugh's records after learning that he received about 2,000 painkillers, prescribed by four doctors in six months, at a pharmacy near his Palm Beach mansion. They contend that Limbaugh engaged in "doctor shopping," or illegally deceived multiple doctors to receive overlapping prescriptions.

Limbaugh has not been charged and maintains he's innocent. He has acknowledged he became addicted to pain medication, blaming it on severe back pain, and took a five-week leave from his radio show to enter a rehabilitation program in 2003.

In his words, he is a criminal who should be locked up and thrown in jail. Stop being a willfully ignorant sheep.

Libs have been trying to get Rush off the air for 15 years. They still can't get the job done, even with a corrupt political hack DA

Fascinating, isn't it. The U.S. has just about the highest per capita prison population on earth, with 75% of them in because of conservatives pounding their fists that we had to "get tough on drugs." So why do you suddenly have a problem with that?

You cant get more hypocritical than that. Rush should DEMAND maximum sentence.

What if a black man were busted with 2000 opiates?

Have I mentioned that I hate these people yet today?

The drug war, much like the bi-partisan monopoly, is a stage show for the sheeple.

Man you guys amuse me. YES Rush was addicted to Oxycotin. He wasn't ARRESTED, that's the ddrive by media for you. Spin and hype. The prosecutor hadn't a case against him, but after 4 years wasn't goingg to let go without something. So Rush showed up, ON HIS FREAKING OWN, entered a not guilty and walked away.

If he were guilty, they would have had him in cuffs and NOT accepted the not guilty plea, and you guys know it.

But hey, if it makes you feel good to lie, even to yourself.... go for it.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

If it makes you feel better to say he wasn't an addict like he "demonizes" daily on his show, go ahead.

Would you be defending him if he were a democrat?

Funny how the "conservatives" lap up each others puke...

Libs cannot even get the story right. He was NOT arrested. He went in with the agreement signed. NO ARREST
Oh well, it has been awhile since the liberal media has gotten a story right

The fact is Rush did go to several doctors at the same time. Rush also fought every inch of the way to keep this fact out of the court room.

He didn't deny the fact, he just wants to keep it out of the court room under the physician client privacy argument.

Rush like any criminal is fighting on legal technicality. The crime he did, it's the evidence he fighting to keep out of the court room.

What amazes me is how you dittowads can play legal technicality with Rush, yet get angry about judges letting criminals off on legal technicality.

Rush and his dittowads hypocrites all day, every day.

Once again, the libs have to try and find some way to silence Rush. They cannot compete with him on the radio or in the free market. They cannot find anyone on the left who can be a successful as he is on the radio.
They had a politiacl hack try and go after him. There was no arrest - the charges are dropped
The left has failed again - nothing new

Ah yes, silly us. Limbaugh wasn't actually arrested, as in put in handcuffs and put in the slammer. Rather, "Limbaugh surrendered to authorities Friday on a charge of committing fraud to obtain prescription drugs, concluding an investigation that for more than two years has hovered over the law-and-order conservative."

"Limbaugh, accompanied by Black, turned himself in about 4 p.m. Friday, was fingerprinted, photographed and released,"

And by golly, "the charge will be dropped in 18 months, said his attorney, Roy Black, provided that Limbaugh continues treatment for drug addiction, as he has for 2 1/2 years. According to an agreement with the Palm Beach County state's attorney's office, Limbaugh also must pay $30,000 to defray the costs of the investigation, as well as $30 a month for his supervision."

Apparently this is "standard for first-time offenders who admit their addiction."

Lovely little technicalities. Amazing how forgiving and... well, ... "liberal" you folks become when the very crimes you rail against so loudly are committed by one of your own.

This from the people who spent 7 solid years trying to reverse a presidential election with one baseless scandal after another until finally their corrupt political Special Prosecutor caught Bill Clinton lying about an personal affair, an affair completely unrelated to the original 7 year investigation that apparently called for not one but two special prosecutors, four - count 'em - four congressional investigations, a grand jury and $80 million, all to find that Bill Clinton had done nothing wrong in a money losing land deal 10 years before becoming president.

Go ahead, tell us how this is "completely different". (Other than Limbaugh's problems were the result of an actual, legitimate police investigation - doh!) Welcome to the world you proud conservatives created. I hope you choke on it.
