| | | | | | | Subjectivity and Objectivity | | | | What is done psychologically and not thought about is subjective, and what is done psychologically and thought about is objective. A subjective person interprets reality, but they don't contemplate how they are doing it or why they are doing it that way. An objective person interprets reality as well, but they contemplate how they are doing it and why they are doing it that way. So, while a subjective person takes their way of perceiving the world for granted, an objective person examines the origins and constitution of their mode of interpretation. Consequently, the objective being can annihilate their mode of interpretation if it seems unworthy and replace it with a new one, but the subjective being is doomed to be who they are forever, no matter how coarse or ignoble a condition it might be – very probably they will not fully realize just how pathetic their position is, which is a small mercy. | | A mentality, its expression, and indications | | | | A mentality finds expression in a person's attitude, manner, and vocabulary. Indications of a weak mentality are bad attitude, poor manners, and a vulgar vocabulary, and indications of strong mentality are good attitude, fine manners, and a sophisticated vocabulary. However, there is a chance something different from what is indicated lurks beneath these external appearances. A strong mentality can be obscured by a bad attitude, poor manners, and a vulgar vocabulary, and a weak mentality can cloak itself with a good attitude, fine manners, and a sophisticated vocabulary. But most humans are not dynamic enough – that is profound enough – to portray their mentality as contrary to what it is in fact. | | | | | | | | Recent Debate Activity | | 11 Replies, 64 Views | | 10 Replies, 51 Views | | 0 Replies, 3 Views | | 10 Replies, 60 Views | | 47 Replies, 690 Views | |
