    The Man from Earth

I recently watched this underground gem that really isn't all that old. "The Man from Earth" is a superb movie whose setting takes place in one room. I recommend it to everyone here on volconvo as it is remarkably relative to most conversations had on here.

    Here's the synopsis:

A professor gathers his academic friends/colleagues and confesses that he is a caveman who has been alive since prehistoric times thanks to a gene mutation allowing his cells to replicate without error. This claim is of course met with much skepticism, resulting in some very intriguing conversation about mortality and the history of mankind.

It scored a 7.9 out of 10 on IMDB and an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.

    Enjoy!

As the pattern gets more intricate and subtle, being swept along is no longer enough.

"I don't think they really walk like that on the moon, it just doesn't seem progressive."

I've watched it twice now and still find the premise fascinating. I especially liked the fact that the filmmaker didn't find it necessary to resolve the mystery but instead presented it in such a way that the viewer never really knows if the professor is being serious or merely speculating. The drama gets relatively intense without suggesting one conclusion over the other.

A better play-as-a-movie than 12 Angry Men, in my opinion. Truly marvelous.

Jack: He does resolve the mystery to within a reasonable doubt. The man was indeed as he claimed to be.

A man said to the universe:
    "Sir, I exist!"
    "However," replied the universe,
"The fact has not created in me
    A sense of obligation."
