Any suggestions for intelligent, thought provoking indie films?

Depends what you are looking for.

Can't tell you where to go if we don't know where you've been.

Not an indie film, at least I don't think, but try District 9. Very thought-provoking.

You’re right Dodds, and Inglorious Bastards was “just” Okay. You have to prepare yourself for a Taratino movie. You love it or you really hate it.
How about “The boy in the striped pajamas” not by QT, but a VERY thought provoking film.
Good thread by the way Peacehippie....and welcome to the site…first time noticing you around.

Thanks everyone, I've only seen "An Inconvienent Truth" and "Who Killed the Electric Car" and was mildly inpressed at best. The former is what made "go green" but I think Al was a little off his rocker.
Thanks Trojan Ripper, this board is very interesting. It's a great way to have your voice heard and hear the opinions of others.
I'm going to try to get as many of the movies you guys suggested as I can, I'm hoping the library will have them. They all sound compelling.

Temple Grandin. Great feminist story as well as autism. 5 star. Dr. Temple Grandin's Official Autism Website
Oh yeah. I thought my fav satir movie had impressive moments of feminine victory and at least one subtly strong female character, with a comment on the environment as well as deep philosphy examination of death involving the hazards of living with zombies. Now don't prejudge this too much it has a lot going for it, though I'd never have bought it from looking at the cover of the DVD case. It is a personal favorte now. Fido. Most thought provoking philosophy presented in dealing with the situation these folk had to live with.
Trailer here: FIDO - OWN IT ON DVD OCTOBER 23 All right, it's Lassie on Crack.
