I think the main thing here is that he went on his show to publically joke about his cheating on his wife for who knows how many years...... which in itself is a good warrent for her to divorce his sorry ass and take him for all he's worth, while the company dumps his arse to the curb and then he finally realizes the seriousness of his transgressions.
Since this has happened, from what I have seen in news reports (wasting time from more important things I'd like to see if you ask me) of him talking on his show, he has continually shown a trivializing and overall not-caring attitude to what he has done.... he's not sorry, he's not even sorry to his wife.... and how he reasons, explains and justifies himself, hell even his apologies, he has shown that he thinks it's something he can easily reason away or solve, like any other typical schmuck who's let the money, power and fame rot his brain for too long..... as if he's above it all and nothing will happen to him..... who knows..... in the US, chances are nothing will.
And his ratings jumping after this happening can mean a few things..... maybe people want to support him for whatever sick reasons they have..... or perhaps people want to see him shove his foot in his mouth again and eventually get tossed.
I don't think I ever watched a full episode of his show before, and I certainly don't plan on it anytime soon..... I personally don't care about his fame, how rich he is, who he knows, what he knows, etc..... all I know is he's always been a pompus, selfish, ignorant jerk hole and it's finally showing through better then ever.

Of course if his wife doesn't file for divorce and take him for all he's worth, she's just as much of a schmuck for letting him get away with what he did with no consequences and shows him that he can and will get away with anything with her so long as he does his little fake sob moment on TV.
