| I was raised to think it is just to strange to contemplate, but I oppose it for what I consider a valid reason.
If either parent in a "normal" relationship is prone to having some sort of flaw, such as retardation, baldness, diabetes or joining the Democratic Party, having offspring with a close relative may double the chance of the kid getting something like that which may ordinarily lie dormant or it may surface in the following generation.
The taboo seems to have worked for all these years so why tinker with it, unless there is some actual benefit I'm not aware of. |
