| i would hardly think that 1 in 6 men getting battered makes it a rare thing. That seems pretty common to me.
But indeed the atitudes toward this shown by many is exactly the attitude shown by the governments etc. They also think it is rediculous. How many men do you think actually would report it? Not many i can bet... I know if i was battered by a woman i would feel pretty silly going to the police to complain, or even telling my friends.
It is exactly this attitude that needs to change. This is not something that has just started. When the lady that opened the first women's refuge in the UK started out, she also tried to opens a mens refuge as well but it was scoffed at. Therefore there is no humour that tables have turned.. they haven't. Women perhaps just make more fuss about it when it happens to them (not that i blame them). |
