| I don't think either viewpoint will differ much in their effects. Unless something is done about the increase of population, the actions by the greenies will only allow the carrying capacity to be increased. No species can continue to increase in population in any environment forever. Playing with consumption patterns without stoping increasing population is at best a temporary solution. At most it will buy a few hundred years. Then the collapse. The larger the population the more onerous the collapse. One could argue that as long as there is no will and ability to control population, the industrialists may be doing us a big favor. The more they limit the earths carrying capacity perhaps the better for mankinds prospects for surviving a population crunch.
