Honestly, I don't know. On the surface it certainly seems as though we are, but there are so many things at high levels going on I'm not sure the election is even relevant to where this country is going.
When discussing global issues like the Cold War and the threat of Communism back in the early 70's, I used to say I would stop worrying about it as soon as I saw a McDonalds appear in "Red" China. Well, NOW they have McDonalds AND a big Microsoft research facility there, so I ain't worried. I suspect the powers that be stopped worrying about that a LONG time before the rest of us did, but it was convenient for them to let us fret about it.
That doesn't mean I'm not worried, but the concern is now how we act regarding terrorists (a group NOT usually associated with international power brokers), the envoronment and the economy. IMO Bush is NOT the man for these jobs. However, I am hopeful he will not be allowed to go too far by the globally influential.
I am not kidding myself here. I believe there are powers in the world we know nothing about yet must assume they are there and invisible for a reason. That of course IS an assumption but one I came to by logic and observation. I hope for the best.
