Are you talking about handing out quarters (or pizza or blankets) on the street? Or giving money to charities? When you give money to a large charity (and many are
huge) what makes you think that it will be used the way you would wish? It ain't that simple: as soon as any organization exceeds a certain (pretty small) size, the symptoms usually attributed to Big Bad Government set in. That's just bureaucratic human nature, and entropy.
