| Why not? It's our money and we can spend it any way we want. I prefer to do it mainly because it goes where I want it and isn't decided by the government as to who is deserving. Seeker asks valid questions but I don't give a lot at any one time and I have a fair idea whatever the recipient may be is legit. That's good enough for me.
I read some time back that the U.S. is the most charitable society in the world, based on the amount of money we give to charities. I'm not sure is that is still correct but I hope so.
