Would you not agree that is there "Intelligent" life aside from our own (assuming you concede that we are intelligent) out there is the more pertanent question?.

There seem to be several levels of belief required here.

1. Is there life? Almost certainly if you include bacteria and microbes.

2. Is there an eco system that supports higher functioning life, (in which case it is likely that higher functioning life is part of that system)?

3. Is there life capable of reason (lets not hijack into whether or not some of our animals already fit that bill as it is irrelevant to the topic)?

4. Is there life with enough technologiacal savy to make contact with us?

5. If there is life with the technology to contact us, have they or would they bother?

It is not really as simple as "are we alone?". The pill to swallow keeps getting bigger.

"UFO" means Unidentified Flying Object. Yep ther are lots of those. If I see it and don't know what it is, it has not been identified to me.
That is not a frivolous as it sounds. Anything flying thing we see that we cannot identify is a UFO. The automatic assumption that they are ET controlled is a bit of a jump and I believe culture driven.

UFOs are recorded in ancient history as well but they are often described as "gods" or "angels" or "bright moving stars". Their source is set by the culture.

Let us look at some of the alternate possibilities as long as we are jumping to the fanciful.
1. ETs.
2. Time travelers from the future.
3. A form that ghosts take.
4. A natural meteorological phenominon we have not yet identified.
5. Secret human projects.
6. Creatures from an alternate state such as heaven or hell.

Lots of stuff to buy into beyond "are we alone?"

Protester against the culture war!!!!
