And I'll agree with you so far as people and states budgets are greatly over inflated. Our geography club at my college has $3700 this year as budget for trips and spending. Total that with all the clubs together, many of which get higher budgets.... tuition can't cover everything, I wonder if a part of the states education fund goes to students this way. I'm sure states could cut back but it would lower the expected level of services.

Same works at the personal level. I'm sure most American's can get by. What they can't seem to do is get by in their overly expensive homes, to large SUV's, and to much debt caused by over spending. We expect a certain level of living and fact we might have to lower our standards scares people.
