I admit that I have one. But it's really only there in case I have car trouble, and since I hardly ever drive, well ...

Mobile phones exist only to a marginal extent for actual communication.
Mostly they're a fashion accessory -- a way of showing off, of feeling important.
And of making tons more noise than people used to make.
