Read Marx's interpretation of history. It's very interesting for commie and non-commie alike.
But I agree with this simple equation: no poverty = no crime |
First of all, no poverty =/= no crime, as long as society tries to provide rules for a stable civilisation, people will break them, poor or not. Crime will be motivated differently, but thenagain, rich suburban kids still sell and buy, drugs, as well as commit every crime that their poor counterparts do. Second, Marx is flawed in many ways, interesting and even enlightening in interpretation, but basically flawed. Third, the poor did take the french revolution far farther than the bourgeoise intended, but eventually you got a return to moderation and eventually a popularly elected military dictatorship because people don't want a radical socialist experiment, they want to be able to live without worrying about survival, in safety, with a sufficient amount of freedom , preferably wthout blood running in the streets of paris.
