| The reason the age of consent was introduced in the UK was to prevent young girls being sold into prostitution, it was originally thirteen but was raised to sixteen in 1885. I think it should stand to protect young girls from older predatory males but there should be a proviso regarding young people of a similar age.
What I consider to be far more important, is that prevention of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases is taught.
If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have paradise in a few years.
