Well, most religions are "break-offs." They may appear newer or older, but they are still chains of previous understandings of the world, of previous traditions. It's similar to how an army is more than a
collection of soldiers. It's also an ideal, a tradition and frame of mind. They might have some different teachings, different symbols and leaders, but many of the same precepts will be there.
