Actually, there is no contradiction between the two concerns. Essentially, we're discussing how political party organizations impede on freedom of political expression. Because political parties hold power over the entire nation, they shouldn't "run their organizations however the hell they please." If you think they should, then you're basically on the path to dictatorship. To avoid that path, we have a long way to go. However, as Albert Schweitzer said: "Anyone who proposes to do good must not expect people to roll stones
out of his way, but must accept his lot calmly if they even roll a few
more upon it...."
