Yes and no... there's a lot of folks out there who should have known they were getting in way over their heads, although that certainly doesn't absolve the lenders who equally knew they were getting folks in over their heads.

Let's not get carried away, Derek. Home prices are going to have to drop considerably before low income people can afford to buy. The American middle class has been shrinking for a generation... many going into the upper incomes, many more going into the lower incomes. The average American hasn't been able to afford a home for some time now.
