Absolutely. Religions that come out of paternalistic societies are discriminatory nearly across the board. Most religious institutions, if treated equally with all other corporations, would be subject to numerous lawsuits and mostly likely driven out of business. An example of that is the recent judgment against Rev. Phelps and his clan of incestuous inbreds. To avoid this, religions clamor for and are awarded special consideration within society. Whilst claiming to be "not of this world" and "god's laws are not man's laws", the Christians, for example, certainly exploit the protection they're afforded under "man's laws". Huge tax-free cathedrals, monuments to greed, and discriminatory practices all go unchallenged.
