Finally, the original question. Why should the state be allowed to judge a person's testimony based on their religious beliefs? Something that specifically banned in the Bill of Rights. | I know all about that first hand! Prior to my trial back in February of 2006 I wrote the judge a letter explaining that since I had no first hand knowledge of the existence of a being called God it would be hypocritical of me to take the 'oath' and say so help me God. When I 'testified' he was less than pleased to 'swear' me in. After I was convicted/sentenced I of course appealed and we filed a Motion for Bond on Appeal. One of the reasons that I was denied bond was the fact that I refused to take the 'customary oath'!
