I agree that equality causes competition between men and women, but in my experience this is friendly competition between equals. It's not a bad thing at all. In fact, it's good because when two EQUALS come together, true love can be possible -- It's not the same if one person has less power, less choice.
And I love how in our generation it is common to have friendships between men and women. This didn't happen in the past, generally men were friends with men and women were friends with women.
I think equality is working out great.
