I personally would not consider him a "nasty triskster" so much as a guy who gives everyone a chance, and lets them make their own choice. Remember, you may follow his laws (coicidentally or not), but we all have sinned so we need his grace and forgiveness to get into heaven. So you may go to that horrible place, hell.
