| The Medical and Artistic Renaissance came about 100 years before the major civil rights movement in America and the UK even had their beginning.
Women have equal rights in society becasue they fought for it.(Suffragettes(sp?) anyone?,) but when the time came they were prepared to put aside their 'cause and work in munitions factories, farms, building sites etc.during WWI. It was because they proved that they are equal that most of society regards them as such.
Anomon, have you ever considered that less women take part in construction because it's so male-orientated? They're more likely to face discrimination there than in the office.
