Well, it may help some people:

Just think about it a little. It may not help anything for average people, but laws and prison space needn't help anything. All that's supposed to matter is that they exist and are used by somebody. Some think the government has the power to enforce anything, and they're eager to prove it. Then we can say we have the most powerful, "safest" country in the world and pat ourselves on the back.
