Then why cant you open your mind to the possibility that you are wrong?

I can...but it is so rare a thing.

Yes, since the scientific community values your tests over all others, it is very foolish that we would cling to such an archaic theory.

What's foolish is jumping to incorrect conclusions based on scant and faulty evidence.

The fact that life exists proves that God could exist.
Which god?

The one that really exists.

Science doesn't seek evidence to support a preconceived conclusion.

No, but sadly, scientists DO!

It looks at where the evidence leads to draw conclusions. If the evidence suggested a god, all scientists would be believers. So far the evidence suggests natural processes do just fine without supernatural influence. If you've already decided you know the answer, why ask the questions?
|
So, are all scientists non-believers, then? If not, then any conclusions are premature.

So wouldn't include what you've posted?

Amazingly, I'm not infullofbull myself!

How about the Doppler Effect? How about Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation? And gasp, scientists are actually looking for the answers instead of reading a 2000 year old story book and getting answers from there.

I already responded to the DE and CMBR question somewhere above. And how is reading a 2000 year old book somehow more foolish than reading last year's darling of the elite? I thought tried and true was more reliable than blind stabs in the dark.

Consult a dictionary please. Belief doesn't need evidence or reason or truth behind it, otherwise organized religion would no longer exist. Belief, by its very nature must transcend logic. You cant try to inject it with 10ccs of nonsensical rambling and call it science, it defeats the entire purpose.

Quote:
Belief is the psychological state in which an individual holds a proposition or premise to be true.
...The relationship between belief and knowledge is subtle.
...Epistemology is the philosophical study of knowledge and belief. A primary problem for epistemology is exactly what is needed in order for us to have knowledge. In a notion derived from Plato's dialogue Theaetetus, philosophy has traditionally defined knowledge as justified true belief. The relationship between belief and knowledge is that a belief is knowledge if the belief is true, and if the believer has a justification (reasonable and necessarily plausible assertions/evidence/guidance) for believing it is true.
...On the other hand, most people have the impression that in some cases people don't believe things because they don't want to believe, especially about a matter in which they are emotionally involved.
...To believe something is to hold a thought or opinion based upon evidence or an experience admittedly not assumed to be common among all people. The existence of evidence that causes one to believe is often intangible and may or may not be based in fact.
The action of believing someone might be based upon history, trust, and experience that might not be readily available to everyone. Because each individual has the potential to experience life uniquely, it is necessary to develop the art of believing in order to relate to other people, places, or things. Without the ability to believe, it would be impossible to experience in any form a place you have never been. Two control modifiers that accompany the concept of believing are “skeptic” and “gullible”. These two concepts are the “pipe and valve” of believing. To be completely gullible is to believe everything. To be completely skeptical is to believe nothing.
Disbelieving something is still an expression of the believing action. Believing starts with the exposure to a concept or thing outside of your self. Sometimes such exposures can be painful, i.e., the experience of great loss. The desire to not believe can be strong. The act of not believing is the effort to disassociate or to not relate.

Now we all know what belief is all about (or, at least, I believe we do).

Read a Bible. Creationism refers to God as being the creator, not celestial bodies, or rivers, or combinations of the water cycle and temperatures, respectively. The only thing that has been pointed out is that just about everything can change or 'create' something into something else. Theres no God involved.

According to the Bible, God created both life and non-life. Non-life has a long shelf life. It's possible that portions of the earth still exist just as they were originally created. However, organic life has a very short shelf life. It is doubtful that any of the organic life originally created would still be alive today. Therefore, God did NOT create ANY of the life on the earth today. I repeat,
God did NOT create ANY of the life on the earth today. What He did instead, was create life with the ability to PROCREATE or REPRODUCE! This is the evolution (or processes) that is observed by mankind.
Also, He designed physical laws and systems. The weather, the seasons, the tides, erosion, volcanoes, tectonic plates floating on a magma mantle, etc. are the results and the workings of these designed systems. Gravity is such a law. The fact that water expands and becomes less dense while all other elements and compounds contract and become more dense was not a random act of chance. It was a vital difference which made life on earth as we know it possible. The unique properties of water sustain life. Had water's properties not differed from the rest, life would be non-existent. The rotation of the earth, the tilt of the earth, the Chandler wobble, and its revolution around the sun are just a few of the requirements needed in order for life to exist as we know it. All of these forces and motions were set in place by the Creator but His presence is not required any longer. These forces are self-sustaining...at least, for awhile but, probably, not for ever.
So, yes, God's involvement is indeed minimal. Let me ask you a question. Do you own a house? If so, did you build that house? If you are like most people, you live in a house that was built by someone else. How often does that person come around? Have you even met that person or do you even know who he is? More than likely, no. He built it and then forgot it. He built it to not need his constant attention. This is exactly what God has done and it's really not all that remarkable. Not nearly as 'magical' as others would have you believe. God mentions a spaceship that will return to earth that measures 1400 miles in each direction. Although this sounds absolutely incredible, scientific minds KNOW that it is quite possible (for a race much more advanced than our own). It's not the stuff of magic or myth or fairy tales. Science fiction? Yes, to a primitive people. Yet, as technology advances, what once was considered "magic" suddenly becomes "marvel".
How truly marvelous a creation our world truly is!
