| the dumming down of this debate is starting to irriate me.
However to follow along (somewhat) I think the world is dumbing down and it is not just this country.
The whole smart - dumb system sort has a way to balance out and to normalize. The following idea however might be too intellectural for people to grasp, so I will try my best to make it as simple as possible, and it goes like this.
As we educate people with knowledge they slowly stop using their common sense or their ability to think for your self. Over time they are very smart in that they know lots of facts, but they have no common sense and so they use their knowledge and technology to do dummer and dummer things. Like they might make more computer games to waste time with and to kill the mind with. They study chemistry and then use the know how to make new designer drugs to freak out with.
Then learn how to use all this computer smart stuff and then sit here all day typing up debate letters that serve no real purpose other then to give our ego that little "tingle". If I was not so stupid I would even object to my self.
A real intellectural brings forth his potentals for understand things, he does not whitewash his outside with "expert facts" just to look pretty.
Allow me to repeat that.
Getting smart is when we learn to bring forth new ideas from within our self, not about remembering every theory just to use it as a shield of defense from other smart educated people that might endanger our status as "the leading expert in our field". A lot of good ideas are distroyed by those ego protecting theory collectors who always say "you are wrong, the facts are such and such". Facts? What about some new facts every now and then, to replace them older ones?
The nearly child like common sense must ride the wave of knowledge, otherwise you only have another pointless wave with that surfer dude on it "hey dude, how's it hangin' ", well they cannot help it if the best and most sexy parts are lower down then the less interesting parts are.
At least they know where it's at. |
