Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, in doing so snubbed former running mate John Edwards, but said he made his decision out of the belief that Obama is the best pick to strengthen the country’s spirit and image abroad.
“He has a superb talent … to communicate the best of our hopes and aspirations for America and the world, and that is why Barack Obama has the greatest potential to lead a transformation, not just a transition,” Kerry told hundreds of supporters at the College of Charleston. Many people are supporting Obama. Some who worked for Kennedy said he is the next Kennedy, and given what Rice has accomplished in Bush's dramatically change political behavior in the Mid East, I think Kerry is right about Obama's potential. Black people in general have a special advantage in our mid east relationships, because they can say, I was discrimenated against, and look what democracy has done for me.
This is the best message about democracy we could send the world right now.
This hurts because I have supported Kucinch, and didn't like a comment Obama made about older people, however, Kuncinch just does not have the support of Obama, and historically what made Great men great, is the willingness of people to follow them. I think Kucinch acknowledged this in Iowa when he told his supports to back Obama. Kucinch knew he wasn't the getting votes needed to make a difference, and he would rather have Obama win than the other democratic candidates.
Many important people are speaking in favor of Obama's leadership, including Bill Moyer doing interviews favorable to Obama. I am shocked by the number of people willing to follow Obama, and delighted to see a Black man so close to the presidency. I never thought I would see this in my life time. I think it would be an awesome healing of our country. One of our biggest problems is our history of slavery and racism. A Black president would a dramatic change for which we appear to be ready. At home and over seas, history has made this a potential golden moment for Obama.
It is the wave of history that makes men Great, and the Great men are the ones who ride the wave to the top.
