Of course, true African heritage will not occur as long as they've never been there, just like I could not honestly say I know much about my "Finnish heritage," though I'm considered a "Finnish American."

That being said, I'm not a big fan of the whole "pride in one's heritage" thing. It's a highly overrated attitude virtually everywhere it's applied. It's mostly just feel-good, self-congratulatory nonsense.
