| Kinetic energy is a type of energy.
Technically, kinetic energy is nothing more than the potential energy of an object, plus the increased potential due to motion.
Where I think you need to be corrected, Athena, is that every single piece of matter has energy. A sheet of paper has stored energy.
What matters is how you release the energy.
There is energy in copper. Stretch the piece of copper and you have wire. Attach that copper wire to a battery, and you what you have is a release of the energy in the battery, through the medium of the wire, into an electrical release of energy.
