My opinion: they told him in certain understandable terms exactly what he
would do. Speculation: threats to his family, or they have something that can destroy his reputation, or a means of impoverishing him, or a way of burning him with a criminal charge, or a large monetary inducement. I thought he was too honorable for this crap, but I watched the change in December 2002, and I felt certain that irresistable pressure had been brought. Every man has a breaking point.
