| The results so far on this poll is VERY interesting, not what I expected especially concerning roadways and bridges and public transportation.
The street running next to my house has no pot holes, it is just a old time drit road.
We have no sewer system running to our house so we have a septic tank burried in our yard.
Our street has no city "lamp posts" to illuminate the street, we must provide our own lighting for out front.
Livin' the the boondocks is nice however, and you could not get me into one of those fancy gated communities with all those goodies, not anymore.
One person on our street has a broken down car in his yard, another one has weeds growing instead of grass, I have a old fishing boat in my front yard. This is great because no one from some city department is on our case. We got property rights out here. In fact I am just outside the city limits.
Down on the main drag (two way interstate highway) is a Harley motorcycle store and a Mexcan mom and pop store for food items.
A Irish bar and a hamburger place called 'rollin-on'. (not a chain store in site). Unless you drive six miles to the nearest freeway exits.
And the old 1920s meneral hot springs bath house is still standing.
The bikers hang out at Hell's Kitchen which is a famous place to eat at.
We have a store that sells only Native Ameican things. Mainstreet is about three blocks long, with a key shop, three antique stores, a used book store, a few places to eat at, a clothing store, a herb store, a small public musem (for local area).
Each Saturday they close the street for speical events, like the vintage car parade, the 'art walk' for locals to display their wares, and stuff like that.
Then a ways away they got a small airport so people can go sky diving and where they hold motor bike racing events.
A campground with lake fishing, trailer parks, houses, farms, pottery shops, and even a place to buy spy and home security stuff. and empty fields inbetween everything.
Even girls who still hitch hike.
So all that other stuff that poltics worry about is like in another land, not hear in the heart of America which is still remote and where you can still walk down dirt roads instead of speeding down the freeways. |
