I don't know about those soldaderas, but the Adelitas are famed in song (and honored with a parade detachment every September 15th on Mexican Independence Day).

I've read articles on how some united statian feminists influenced the evolution of women's rights in Mexico, though this was after the Revolution. But I don't know of the specific historical references.

Mexican women have many issues, aside from the traditional social discrimination and repression they endure; the situation in Juarez and more generally the tolerance of violence against women is a major issue.
