Our Declaration of Independence speaks of "the laws of nature and nature's God". Democracy is based on a belief that material existence is a manifestation of God, but this is a Deist understanding of God, not a Christian one.
As for getting to heaven, I don't believe there is one place called heaven that good souls experiences in the after life, such as the Egyptian happy after life given to those whose hearts are judged good by Isis. There is no more reason to believe the Egyptian stories, than the Christian, or Muslim ones.
However, Plato defined the soul as separate from body, and many believe we have souls that live after our bodies die. I agree with Kuldeep that we have reason to believe our souls do reincarnate.
