Is it fair to compare hate towards homosexuals today (well, in the past too) to the hate epidemic towards blacks in our not so distant past?

Both are qualities of a human that he or she cannot control.

Don't we view non-racists in the peak days of racism far more highly than the ignorant racists? Don't we even view equal rights movers as heros? Is there is single black hating racist that we would call a hero?

I believe hating someone because of their race is no different than hating someone because of their sexuality.
You try and tell some people that. Hating someone because of something they cannot help, should be illegal.

I also believe haters of homosexuality will soon be viewed as ignorant know-nothings that few people will be able to relate to.
Indeed, our society IS getting a lot more liberal about sex. Well some kinds anyway, most people are still stunned and shocked about the concept of adult-child relationships, contrary of all evidence.

Or perhaps the religious will never wake up from what I feel is comparable to the black racists' epidemic in our past.

Is there evidence that religious people are waking up to the fact that homosexuality is not a choice, just like the color of your skin is not a choice (kinda)? Are they drifting away from religion because of this? Should they be drifting away from religion because of this?

Thoughts?
They should indeed be drifting away from religion, and the further, the better. Religion is the AIDS of society, the Cancer of Tolerance, progress, and freedom.
