Boy these stories sure aren't making Alberta look too good
You know, I have been thinking that as well. Being from Nova Scotia, I was thinking of moving there, since that seemed to be where all the jobs are.... and I think perhaps that's the problem.

Since the Oil Fields, everybody and their dog from across Canada and other countries have moved there for work.... now you guys got a giant population jump, lots of diversity and various cultural backgrounds all in one place.... (Mainly Fort McMurry.... or is it MacMurry?) The crime rate was bound to increase... not that it had anything to do directly with Alberta, but with the large surge of people moving there... it's bound to increase the crime rate. Differences, cultural background, new location, people getting defensive, etc.... a few people from NS have already been stabbed, beaten or killed up there.... but I think it has to do more about how fast everybody moved there, and how dense the population is now....

Not as an insult, but it's almost like the place grew like a Ghetto. Wherever there is lots of work and opportunity, those who never had it will surely go there.... and they'll bring all their baggage with them too.
