Personally, I think it is just sensationalist garbage. People need to settle down, he called the girl Asian, not one of the myriad of racial epithets (I'm not crude enough to start a list) that he theoretically could have used. The fact of the matter is, the girl was overtly of stereotypical Asian characteristics. The way I looked at it in the movie, Bruce Willis could have simply been making a point, he saw the woman, and saw her features... no racism there.
As for the lines "she was hot" and "you shouldn't have ... one," in the movie he was purposely being offensive, to anger the other guy (who's name I forgot, oops) he was belittling both the dead woman and the man, who obviously cared for her. Being offensive was part of the power of the line.
As for the author (who I am assuming is a man to save a letter) of the links conclusion, it seems to me that it is one of the many times that people are looking to be offended. He comes to his own conclusion that 2 simple lines make all Asian women whores, and that they are expendable.
In my opinion, people need to settle down, need to stop looking to be offended, and need to stop trying to be the victim all the time. It is starting to get EXTREMELY annoying. |
Willis is not a black rapper and so they should not have him use the term 'Asian Bitch' in the movie. If other people wanna think that is funny then I have no objection to them watching old crome dome make an ass out of this "should be" acting abilities. Willis has made some good movies but he also takes roles in really bad movies. I for one am not wasting my money on that flick. The Die Hard plot should have died a long time ago - time for a change.
And to tell people to "calm down and allow rasism" seems to be a lame idea in my book. Do you also have funny drawings of Jews with long noses on the wall to laugh at?
