American
Pro - Speading the power of the religious right/religious reasons, capital gain (oil access) and giving an excuss to regain a global hegemony.
Con - Destroying an important finacial institution while killing thousands of your FELLOW AMERICANS. Also it would take far too much corruption in the upper levels of government for this.

Islamic terrorism
Pro- It is attacks against the West in general and they are attacking symbolically rather then devastating. You logically go for the countries that haven't become absolutly paranoid. Because Allah said so, The middle east is unstable and people look for scapegoats (the West),
Con - Pre-9/11 relations of USA-Islam were a lot better then they were.

*edit* I just want to point out that I found it extremely amusing that one of the ads when I was writing the above was "How to become Muslim" ad. You have to love some of the connection made with ad software
