A pretty poor one.
The more technologically advanced we become the more we're getting tangled up in the unwelcome reality of entropy.
And advanced technology is a sort of fire we've managed to play with relatively unscathed for a short time now. But we show so little wisdom that it'll probably blow up in our faces sooner rather than later.
Maybe that's some sort of universal de facto evolutionary safety net: you have to have the wisdom to survive high-energy technology before you can move out to other worlds.
All idle speculation of course.
