| It seems, then, that the explanation for why god allows suffering is because if he didn't, it would ruin the other things he made. That only begs the question, why did he create the other things the way he did? Why is there an earth, and not only a heaven? Or if there needs to be an earth, why can't it be free of suffering? Why did he set it up so that he needed to sacrifice his only son -- which, as Soylent said, points to god being a pretty sick bastard, all in all?
If all suffering is due to separation from god, why did he separate us in the first place so that we could suffer?
If all suffering is due to separation from god, how is it that people can be happy without being connected to god -- how can I smile since I have never taken confession and been absolved?
If all suffering is due to separation from god, why did he so construct us that some of us can never find a connection with him, and thus are doomed to suffer for eternity?
If we should be able to see god in all things, then why should suffering be acceptable as a means of being closer to god -- why couldn't we eliminate suffering and then see god in joy?
