I'm an atheist in the weak sense ("I don't believe in a god") or an agnostic in the weak sense ("I don't know whether there is a god"); I'm not sure whether we can actually know if there's a god, but heck, it is a bit unlikely. We laugh at thundergods or seagods, but still opt for an "almighty god" who controls both? If the existing god is the one of religious stories or characterizations, it is a self-contradictory or unreliable (let alone scientifically testable or falsifiable) god; if it is beyond our human imaginations, it becomes a meaningless god (nothing sensible can be said about it, for it doesn't do anything comprehensible, except, perhaps, just be there beyond the knowable).

I find religion (or: belief systems) much more interesting than a god.

Self-deception does not alter truth.
