If and when the switch happens, I will predict it will be a relatively sudden (within a span of about 10 years) complete market shift. The oil companies will want to push it out as fast as they can, so they wont need to have two different kinds of fuel stations available. Although, i doubt it will happen in the next 30 years. They technology isnt completely efficient yet, so it will be a while before they can get the production cheap enough for consumers to be interested. If the prices were within several thousand dollars of equal internal combustion cars, then I would definately be interested.
