I would be the first one to agree that the opinion of the majority doesn't mean it's correct.
But...
What if one person tells you that you have a habit in your posting style that is detrimental to conducive discussion, and you disagree with their opinion?
Do you assess your posting style for possible changes?
That depends on your goal here. But you probably won't, because it's just one.
What if five more people say the same thing? Then what if you receive multiple suspensions, infractions, and warnings for those aspects of your style? And what if that isn't just here, but in multiple forums across the Internet? What if your name is synonymous with a certain posting style on multiple forums?
Do you assess your posting style for possible changes?
It depends on your goal.
What you should probably ask yourself is:
After a year of multiple suspensions, infractions, and warnings, am I still accomplishing my goal?
If your goal is to learn, share information, convincing people you are right, whatever it might be, and you find yourself answering "no," then would you change your behavior?
If your goal is to say whatever you want, regardless of how it's perceived, and you are getting those suspensions, infractions, and warnings, then do you belong on a forum? |
