Er...the public has always had a healthy disdain for intellectuals. See, those professors DO sit in their ivory towers (I have yet to see a SINGLE university professor preach anything beyond their textbook theories), and they never contribute to society.
Its funny they have so much to criticise, yet they've never been in front line action. I'm quite happy to cut all funding to the ivory tower critics and force them into the real world for once.
Anyone whose attended universities will certainly know how pompous their professors are. Ask any of them if they've seen the real world.
