| You may disagree with the draft, but citizens have been required to fight for their country for a very very long time.
The draft was ended, but it could be reinstated by congress if it was ever necessary.
If the next draft comes up I'm sure it will be an issue. I am not really sure of my position. Logically the women have the ability to reproduce. In a truly damaging war, that could be hurt by compulsory service.
I think it should be random, in other words just as likely that the male is called up as the female. But they both should not have to serve at the same time.
That is not to say that women couldn't and didn't play a part in the draft. They contributed to manufacturing and other important things for the war cause. (WWII) |
