Any chimp can do it, you just ask everybody what they want to do, and whichever course of action gets the most votes, you do.. And i have yet to see a nation that lives up to your democratic ideals. |
And how do you come to that understanding of democracy? What about democratic principles? What are they?
What about a man and woman democratically making decisions, rather then one of doing so arbitarily? This can be taken too far, as in treating small children as equals, resulting in constant fighting and chaos, and is a misunderstanding of democracy. Democracies demand strong leaders and strong parents, and willing followers who understand the reason behind things. They retain an element of consent. Anyone with merit can be become a leader, as opposed to inheriting positions of authority. However, this is about relationships, not government.
Democracy is a way of life, and our government is only one expression of that way of life. Democracy comes from philosophy and began with the idea that humans should do things the way the gods do them. It means discussing things until there is a consensus on the best idea.
Now when people do not understand democracy as we no longer do, they assume authoritarism is necessary and surrender their liberty to that authority. This thread is about that authority creating laws that prevent families from helping their own family members. Do you have anything to say about this authoritarian reality, and the morality of it?
