When I was a kid, I always travelled without a ticket (always forgot to buy one from the damn machines). I was poor too. Parents on welfare.
When the "evil" ticket inspectors caught me, I always apologised. They let me go with a warning.

One of my friends was caught without a ticket. He swore at the cop, threatened to sue him, and so forth. He got a ticket and a threat to be jailed.

When I got a car, I sped (while still a Prob!). The cop caught me, I apologised and gave him my license, admitted I was speeding. He let me go without any ticket.

Everyone I know is hostile to the inspectors. As a result, they get fined.

One of my friends recently got involved in a court case against Officeworks (a very large company). He was a poor business owner in debt. In one month, he went to 14 networking events, met over 40 lawyers, helped them out with small favours, and one of them offered to defend him, in exchange for a IOU! A top-notch lawyer, who won the case for him, without charging him money!

Any other person in his case would have complained about the unfair legal system. But not him! He actively went out, attended those events (spent his last cent paying for the tux hire!), and actively tried to seek help.

Does the law only protect the rich? No, it only protects common sense! :D

Ideological loyalty is the act of giving your soul to a vague concept, to be manipulated by people smarter than you.
